Master academic studies of social work

The two-semester studies of Social Work upgrade and deepen the theoretical and practical knowledge acquired at undergraduate four-year studies of Social Work. Thus graduate students and experienced professionals get an opportunity to further develop their skills, knowledge and their critical implementation in different fields of social work.

The programme has four mandatory courses dealing with theoretical and practical aspects of work with family, individuals, groups and communities, case management, supervision and management of social work at the level of establishment and management of social services.

Elective courses are organized in three elective blocs, offering an opportunity for a more complex introduction with research of social phenomena and social problems, possibilities of social change and effects of practical work. A part of elective courses is oriented to studying of group dynamics and processes and applicative disciplines important for social work, like mediation and anti-social behavior. The disciplines from the field of globalization, migrations, social policy, theory of justice and gender studies are present as well.

The final – master paper, confirming the candidate’s capacity for critical implementation of the obtained academic and professional knowledge in direct and research-analytical practice, is a mandatory part of the studies.

Eligibility: completed four-year studies of Social Work and Social Policy or four-year studies of Social Work. The advantage will be given to candidates engaged in direct practice and with higher average grade at undergraduate studies. The interview with the entrance commission is aimed at assessment of motivation and conditions for mentor and supervision support to candidates in direct practice.

This study programme was accredited in 2015.
