Aim and outcome of the course

By studying social policy, student gains the basic knowledge about the developments of human race until today in the field pertaining to its existence; nutrition, housing, clothing, mutual helping, labor engagement. He/she studies the forms, models of social organization through which human needs are satisfied, in the span from animal to contemporary ones, from the horde, clan, tribe to the state, with the role of family as a blood-related group permeating the entire content. Introduction with and obtaining of the knowledge about living and working conditions of individuals, groups and entire society through different systems of values by using methodological approach of historical comprehension and changes of state and social-economic formations (primitive community, slavery, feudal, civil, socialist). He/she comprehends the custom, tradition, morality, as well as the theories by philosophers, humanists, religious understandings and legal regulation about relations and commitments among people and commitments of the state in the field of nutrition, labor, medical treatment, education, housing, leisure, salary, working conditions, protection and security against the risks of sickness, disability, death, maternity, old age, unemployment, protection from poverty and misery. In contemporary times, living and working conditions provided through social legislation of states, world regions, i.e. through national legislation and international standards (conventions, declarations and recommendations).

Student gains knowledge of social developments in the region (the EU) and of universal social approaches realized through the OUN and other international autonomous organizations; The International Labor Organization, The World Health Organization and the International Red Cross. On the basis of the obtained knowledge, student understands social developments and – on the basis of permanent and universal values and through the institutions in the field of his/her (future) work (profession) – he/she influences the social developments, social practice, through legal regulation, appropriate to the nature of man, on the grounds of solidarity, humanism, social justice, freedom and labor. It is expected that based on this knowledge he/she gains professional (theoretical-methodological) capacity for shaping and directing the development of society, removal of social conflicts and controversies, contributing the social development and welfare.
